everyone keeps saying i shoudn't have lights on the tank , so how does the gecko know if it is day or night if the are kept in a completly dark room with no natural light . that just doesn't seem right to me , they will always think it is night time . or is it ok that they think it is night ime all the time , i don't know guys but i've been all over the world and i havn't found one spot where it is nighttime 24/7

I don't know about everyone else but I have a Night-time red bulb on my tank 24/7 for extra heat to go along with the UTH. My Leo is just a baby and seems to be doing great so far. I think it's okay not to have lights for Leos, because the natural light getting threw the windows should be brighter during the day than at night. However in my room I have a black out blanket covering the only window creating about the same light filtration all the time. So far from what I've observed from my gecko, she sleeps whenever and wakes up whenever and doesn't simply keep to a day-night cycle. Which doesn't bug me as long as she's healthy and she's as healthy as a horse!

*Edit* Also, I think the reason people discourage lights on a Leos tank is because lights tend to heat the air more than the floor, and belly heat is VERY important in digestion and all that jazz.
