How fast will a gecko learn to eat from a bowl?

I'm going outstation in 2 days and I am going to put in a bowl of mealies inside my gecko's cage. How will I keep them alive for a longer period of time? I will be leaving them inside for 2 days so I hope to keep them alive for as long as possible.

Just make sure you put the bowl on the coolest end of your tank
and put a few pieces of carrot or potato in there with them to eat
and stay hydrated.

I just leave mine in the bowl on the cool side until she eats most of them and they
stay alive no problem, I don't put any food in for them at all. Although they do have
stuff in the box when I buy them which I guess is the food.

Your gecko should find the food easy enough when he/she explores of a night time.
