How important is space

I have had my gecko for a good two months now and i was wondering how important free space is for the animal.
He has been running around a lot lately and is really getting used to his environment. Should i invest the money to upgrade from a ten gallon tank to a 20 long, or is it something that isnt very important?
What kind of affect will it have on him as he grows.

Keeping a gecko in a smaller space will not inhibit growth, they’re not goldfish. I think space is very important, and a 10 gallon tank is big enough, but it won’t hurt anything to get him a bigger tank.

Yeah a 10 gal. is fine, a 15 gal. is really nice. 20 gal. would be great if you've got the space, but a 15 is plenty.

I think a 20 would be good. In my opinion I just think by the time you get a couple of hides with the food and water dish in a 10 there just isn't that much room for them to move around. I have a 10 that I use but as they get bigger I move them to a larger enclosure. I even stack a humid hide on top of the regular hide to conserve space, but I still feel like a 10 is on the small side.

I like to have no less than 20g long minimum per adult leo.

Not only do they seem happier in a larger space, I also have more room for
hides, fake plants and stuff.

I dont think the humid hide I like to use would fit well in a 15g.

Build a second level into your 10 gallon tank and it virtually becomes a 15-20 gallon tank use pink insulation foam to build a second level be creative. i did it in half of my 20 gallon long tank for some extra space. :main_thumbsup:

I think everyone starts out with a 10 gallon and as they add stuff to the tank or add more Geckos the number of gallons increase.

But I agree that 10 gallons, with the hides, the water dish, the food dish and the cali dish ... takes up a lot of space.

I like the 2nd story idea.

And I have a 10 gallon tank and a 29 gallon show tank.:main_thumbsup:
