How long before I start to handle?

Alright guys. I just got my little guy yesterday and I am wondering how long I should wait until I start to hold her/him.

We typically let them be for a day to get acclimated to their new surroundings. Then we start to feed them. Once they are starting to eat, then we start handling them. That way we don't stress them out too much. The animal will give you some clues by its behavior. Some are just a little jumpier and skittish than others. I'm sure others will share their strategies as well that may work for you. Good luck, and enjoy your new pet.

Wait untill s/he gets settled (eating and so on) and then let them get used to having your hand in their tank. After that just get them used to your hand under them in the tank and slowly take it from there.

K. My guy is eating fine and everything. And he is pretty used to my hand. Like I can have it right next to him and he doesnt mind. but the minute i touch him he runs. :/

Sounds normal to me, even now mine will run if not wanting attention

I just started by holding my hand next to her and let her check me out when she wanted.
Took a few weeks of doing this every day for just a few mins each time and eventually she was the 1 coming to the glass wanting me to open up so she could get a hold.

Even now though sometimes she likes a bit of 'alone time' and hides away :main_laugh:

They are really quick to learn, especially for a treat.
I have one that his treat is Liquid Calcium.
Licks it from a syringe.
He's ready to take the cat on after getting it.
