How long does it take the tail to re-grow?

A 45 gram female that I purchased has dropped her tail in shipping. The top piece of styrofoam inside the box was cracked all the way across, so it could have happened when the box was mishandled. Or it may have happened when the agriculture inspection dog barked at the box. Apparently the dogs are trained to bark at boxes containing live animals, but they told me that the tail was already detached when they opened the box.

I was hoping to breed this girl soon. Now she'll have to put most of her energy into regrowing her tail, right? Any idea how long it will take? Will she continue to grow as the tail is regenerating, or will this stunt her growth until the new tail is finished growing? Basically, what's a rough estimate on when she can breed? I'll give her gutloaded superworms and a neo-calglucon supplement once a week.

Did I mention.....

that she's an Enigma het Tremper?!! I'm trying to decide if I should wait for this girl to breed, or if I should get another one from the breeder at a discount. I'm not a big breeder and don't see these things as dollar signs, but I was hoping to make some money with this project. If it's gonna be a long time before she can breed, it may be worth my while to pick up the other one before prices plummet. So, if anyone has had a leo that regrew it's tail I'd love to know how long it took. Thanks

Jason, it's a shame she dropped her tail! You should start seeing some regeneration within the first week or two, and depending on how she's eating, it should be fully regenerated by the start of breeding season after the holidays.

Thank you MOGL! This gecko is thought to be a giant, so she needed to put on about 10 grams before reaching breeding size. Let's hope she likes supers! I'll weigh her tomorrow. Right now I'm just letting her relax, poor baby.
