How long until eggs go bad?

I'm on day 61 now with my eggs which have been incubating at 83-84 degrees. They look healthy, and have grown quite large. There was a time or two when the temps jumped to 90, which I believe killed them. How long does it usually take for them to collapse, or atleast be obviously dead? Before now every fertile egg has hatched for me.

How fast and how long did the temperature go up to 90 degrees? If there was mortality, the egg would probably start to look bad after around 5 days.

I just had a clutch of eggs hatch at 88 days incubated at 81 degrees.

I have no idea how long it took for the temps to rise, but they were probably up for 6 hours or more. My incubation technique isn't the best out there. We just moved to Oregon from San Diego area, and when the eggs were laid the outside temps were in the 50s, and inside our house was about 70. So I put the deli cup in our bathroom which has a small room heater, and I was able to keep it a consistent 83-84 until the outside temps started rising. I was expecting the eggs to hatch around 50 - 55 days, but maybe my previous success with havobators made me believe this was easier than so.

I really hope these eggs hatch, I'm excited to see what comes of red stripe het tremper X sunglow for us.

We've dealt with this first hand, and our egg did show first signs of mold about 5 or 6 days after it's turning incident (cause of death).

As long as the egg(s) look good (shell is nice and firm, not discolored, no mold, no abnormal sweating, no denting), the embryo is, in theory, good too ;)

Best of luck to you, keep us updated!

Well one of the eggs hatched last night around 11 PM. I believe it's a hypo jungle with a fully striped tail, het tremper, but I guess we'll find out about the hypo part later. Still waiting on the second egg of this clutch.
