I Have Searched Many Care-Sheets And None Have Said How Many Crickets To Feed Your Leo. Now Maybe I'm Not Looking Hard Enough But I Can't Find Anything, They All Say Watch How Many You Give Them But Not How Many...

Yesterday Was My First Time I Gave My New Leo Crickets, I Didn't Know How Many To Give Him So I Gave Him 4. This Morning They Were Gone!

Well Anyway My Question Is, Is Their A Limit On How Many Crickets To Feed Your Leo? I Know You Can Over Feed Them That's Why I Want To Make Sure!!!.

Whew I Been Asking Alot Of Questions Lately ( Sorry ).

It depends on how big your leo is but when I was feeding crickets I would put about 10 appropriately sized crickets in and if they were eaten in 15 minutes I would give them 5 more.

Thanks for the info, I just gave him three to see what he would do! He ran after them then walked off ( I guess, He's guessing he's to good for Crickets. LOL ). I know yesterday I gave him one and he ate it, Then I put three more in and he didn't eat them but by this morning they were gone. I went to petco just awhile ago to get mealworms but they only sold them in 50counts & up.
I only wanted like five or ten to see if he would eat them, I guess I'll stick to crickets for the time being. He seems to only eat a few crickets at a time, I guess he's a bit small and that three or four crickets fill him up!

Here's a picture of him.

I can't imagine you would be able to buy mealies in anything under a 50 count. I've yet to have a gecko refuse them. A 50 count should be pretty cheap so I would just get them and try them out. If he likes them, a 50 count would probably last 1 - 2 days tops.

Whoa, Do you go though that many? That sounds like WAY to many to feed ONE Leo in TWO days!

Your Leo must be FAT!!! lol!
I only wanted a few because I don't want mealworm beetles popping up everwhere! I can't stand bugs.

I have geckos that weigh 20g eat 15-20 mealies at a time and others that weigh twice that who only eat 5-10 a day. I also have a full grown Leo that eats 2 crickets every other day and never loses weight...shes 66 grams while one of my fattIls will pound 12 medium large crickets every day and loses weight!

So as you can see, this question cannot be answered. It drives me crazy when people keep asking this question! LOL! You need to figure out what your gecko needs, nobody knows but you and your gecko.

Well depending there have been incidents were the crickets can actually stress out your gecko and even physically harm it, most geckos if not hungry anymore will not eat and will pretty much get bullied by the crickets, i would take em out 5 mins after the gecko a stoppoed eating.

for me, feeding them is the most stressful part of owning these little creatures. I want them to thrive and be well so I want them to eat consistently. So I tend to stress about whether they are eating enough or whether I'm stressing them more by trying to feed them. What I am starting to realize is that they will eat when they are hungry. If they eat what you offer them, offer a little more. If they don't eat it, don't worry about it and try again tomorrow. I have 4 geckos, only one of them seems to be giving me trouble eating. I think what Chris from Wild West said makes sense. The question of how many crickets or worms to feed a gecko cannot be answered because the amount is different for every gecko.

Thanks for the info, I did not know that ( learn something new on this site everyday ). I'll deff Take the extra out after he's done eating... I've seen sometimes now that I think about it where the cricket touches him and he runs away into his hide!

LOL. Taking them out of the tank if my gecko didn't eat them was the worst. I have a cricket cage with the tubes so it was easy to put them into the Gecko tank. But if she didnt eat them, it took me forever to catch the little suckers. I didn' want to catch them bare handed so I tried with the tweezers which was pointless. Then I would use a little cup and pin them against the glass in it. Anyway, that is why I switched to mealworms/superworms. Much easier to deal with.

LMAO!!! I won't have a kricket keeper 'til my birthday on the 19. At the moment it's in a little fish tank and I have to use tweezers to get them out AHAHA! WHAT A JOKE!!! I'm scarred shhhhless of bugs LOL!!!... But yeah when I get that kricket keeper it should be much easier! ( I hope )

Well. Happy B-day, just a week early. Mine is on the 28th.
The Kricket Keeper is great. It is a must if you are feeding crickets.
