How many morphs?

Hi, this question has been bothering me for few weeks now.

Let's just say I have successfully mated a 1.0 Tremper Sunglow to a 0.1 Tremper Albino. Few weeks after the copulation, the 0.1 Tremper Albino started to lay 2 eggs. This ordeal continued for few weeks until the 0.1 Tremper Albino laid a total of 6 eggs. Immediately after harvesting the 3rd clutch of eggs and put them into another container for incubation, I took the 0.1 Tremper Albino and put her into a 1.0 RAPTOR's enclosure. She was receptive, the male RAPTOR began to court her and a copulation between the two sighted. I took the female out and put her into her own enclosure.

Now comes the question. If I continue doing this, will the eggs be fertilized from the 1.0 Tremper Sunglow or will they be from the 1.0 RAPTOR? :main_huh:

Anybody had done this before?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Regards

I just finished my research (masterthesis) on this subject. You'll get young of both males. The more you let the R.A.P.T.OR mate with the female, the more he'll be fathering the young. As soon as I finished my report, the exact delails of my study will becom availeble to others.

Greets,

Stevie

Thanks Stevie.

Does this mean I may not know exactly the genetics of the next batch of eggs unless a visual Tremper Sunglow is sighted? That means the next clutch would be from him if a Tremper Sunglow hatchling is sighted or may or may not be from him if they hatched all Tremper Albinos instead (possible het RAPTOR?)?

Or when you said I'll get youngs from both males, do you actually mean whenever she laid two eggs, one egg would be from the Tremper Sunglow and the other one would be from the RAPTOR?

Looking forward to view your report Stevie.

And all the best in your masterthesis (You're a postgrad student?) :main_thumbsup:

Thanks

I did something similar last year... However, the second male was a Mack Snow so I knew for sure that he was the father... Only way to know with yours is to produce Raptors with the babies...

It's deffinatly a roll of the dice on what you will get. at least you did it with a sunglow and a raptor. giving exact genetic info when selling will be very difficult. sounds like a genetics disaster when attempting to sell IMO.

You will not know exactly the genetics of the next batch of eggs unless a visual Tremper Sunglow is sighted. Think of it as the flip of a coin for each egg. Heads it was sired by one male, and tails it was sired by the other male. Except you can't tell whether the coin came up heads or tails unless the baby is a sunglow. As each egg is a coin flip, both eggs in a two-egg clutch could be sired by the same male (but which male???), or one could be sired by each male. Sooner or later, the first male's sperm will be used up or die off, but I don't know how long that takes. Good luck.

Yup. I agree. I won't be selling them by the way as this process is an experiment I just need to find out myself.
