So my leo (she's an enigma) is still having troubles catching her crickets so I decided to try supers, I gave her one, she loved it and had no problems catching it but my question is how many should I give her? She's a year old. Thank you!

I usually feed my 7 mos old leo 3-4 supers a meal but get nervous giving him more than that but he still looks hungry. I worry that he'll either regurg or get constipated so I try to stay consistant with his feedings. Adam said that he was giving him 2-3 a feeding but I'm sure he couldhave eaten 5 if I let him. I'm anxious to see the replies.

Our daily feeders get 1 unless they are rehabbing and want another. After a month or two they seem to cut themselves back to one or just eat every other day, since they have gained their weight and strength back. Adults usually 2-3 every 2-3 days. New ones are offered food daily, 2 at the most (they act like piggies and would eat more). Adults we've gotten seem to eat more the first couple months, then cut themselves back since they have become secure with their food source. I don't worry if they skip a feeding or don't eat as much, they're plump and healthy, they'll eat when they're hungry.

This is just my opinion, but if he's eating that much a day then yes. A taper back would be a good idea, 2-3 big (1.5-2") supers is plenty, to keep him healthy in the long run. A 7mo old often (but not always) still eats daily, or almost daily. If he eats every other day then 3-4 is fine. If you use smaller feeders, adjust accordingly. Your breeder probably told you how often they were feeding before you got him. Animals can become obese if they develop a tendency to be social eaters, as I'm sure you know. I had to put one of my girls on a diet! She thought she needed a big juicy worm every time she saw me feeding others, the piggie :)

PS- I have a superworm colony so making adjustments for different size feeders isn't an issue for all the hungry mouths we have to feed. Once the babies are at young juv stage I begin to introduce small supers into their mealworm dish. As they grow, so do the worms. There's only one place I've seen to order baby superworms online, if anyone is interested it's http://www.greatlakeshornworm.com/

Yes my breeder did say he was feeding him 2 supers every other day so I have him on a mon wed fri schedule and he is def. wanting more than 2. I felt a lil uncomfortable feeding him 4, but that was a first for me. I'll keep it at 3 no matter how much he begs if you think it's better for him in the long run.

Thanks Laney.

I'd bet that on Mondays he's ravenous :) 3 every other day is a good schedule tho. He may need an extra on Monday since he is still a growing boy :) Sometimes my adult males will look like they want more than 3 since they only eat twice a week, and they could handle it without regurging, but sometimes they ask for food when I'm feeding juvs and post breeding females, and I'll give them 1. It makes them happy and I don't mind since it give us a chance to interact without overfeeding :)

Thanks again Laney :) I usually give him a couple small mealies or 1 super on sunday just 'cause I feel bad for the lil booger ya know :) Being 7 mos old (hatched in March 2010) should I be feeding him every day? I know he'd eat every day and he usually walks away when full, that I've seen.

I hope some of these answers are helping the op... I hate feeling like I kinda hijacked their thread :(

Oh wow, thanks for all your answers! Unfortunately she won't eat them anymore LOL, loved the first one and the second one and now just ignores them. Still goes for the crickets but with her being so off on her aim it's hard to make her gain any weight. She's not supper skinny or anything just not as fat as I would like her to be. Mealworms are almost impossible for her to catch! Got any suggestions on easier feeders?

DUBIA! You can feed your enigma with a single insect. Really no need for a second. I've seen people tweezer-feed dubia on youtube to extreme enigma cases. I actually like my small colony... if only they would grow faster.

I feed 2-3 Super Worms 3 times a week for adults. Hatchlings get 5 mealworms a day and once they reach 15 grams they get small Supers, 10 a week.

I was thinking dubias too so I looked around and found out they're illegal in Canada :( what about silk worms? Can they be used as a staple or should they only be used as treats?
