There is no way for us to answer that question. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Only you can determine how much it is worth to you. $40 is only a "happy-meal" more expensive than the price of pet store geckos....not sure it you need a financial consultant for this decision :p They are essentially wonderful collectables. A Babe Ruth rookie card might be worth $500 to some people, but not to me.

Assuming that you are new to leopard geckos, I beg you to go to the page below and buy the NECESSARY equipment to care for just 1 Leo. My wife spent over $100 to buy her:

-Leo
-aquarium kit with sand(bad), wrong bulbs, inaccurate analog gauges, and other useless junk
-correct bulbs
-Under tank heater (MANDATORY)
-Repticarpet
-just 1 hide.

I have spend over $100 more on supplies needed for just 1 Leo:
-Digital Themometer/Hygrometer
-3 nice hides (cold, moist, and hot)
-Cricket Keeper
-Multivitamin
-Calcium with D3
-Calcium withOUT D3
-Cricket food
-Cricket water
-$10 of crickets per week
-$5 of mealworms per month
etc etc etc

So my point is this: If you are worried about spending $10 more than the everyday common petstore price, I challenge you to fully prepare a habitat BEFORE you buy a leopard gecko.

40 is fair price, you can go to a show and get a 10g with hood for 20 bucks and a heater for around 20 no reason to spend hundreds
