How much should my leo weigh?

Hi, I am a new user on this forum. I have a leopard gecko that was having some problems about two months ago, but she is getting better now. She had a bad shed and dropped her weight down to about 22grams (usually she is about 27g, small I know). I brought her to the vet and she is on Baytril now and has started to gain her weight back again. As of today she is at 32grams.

So she has Metabolic Bone Disease, and I know that will affect her weight a little bit because her bones will be less dense, but my question is how much should her ideal weight be? She has always been smaller than normal, I think 32 grams is her highest weight. Her first owner didn't know very much about reptiles, thus the MBD and her being so small. Any thoughts?

I have been posting her progress on another forum, ReptileRooms, so if you are interested in any additional information/pictures/progress etc, here's the link:

Thank you in advance, and this forum seems great!

Hey everyone, thanks for the responses. I didn't realize you were so selective with who you choose to share your knowledge with. Next time I will be sure to post something more interesting, debatable, or blatantly wrong to stimulate responses from this forum.

It would be helpful if you would post all your information here instead of expecting this forum's users to visit another to offer you any responses.

I do agree that there is a lot going on in this forum, which is why I posted here in the first place. I think this is the most active forum for leopard geckos. I guess I just stated it wrong in my response.

Ok, you are probably right that the link to the other website was not the best idea. I didn't think it through completely. I tried to go over in the post the most relevant information about my gecko in regards to her weight, such as MBD, her being on medication, and always being smaller than most geckos. The link to the other website goes over general information like my tank setup and a shedding problem she was having, so I just didn't think it relevant enough to her ideal weight to post it in this thread. But, that could have thrown off any potential replies by just having the link in the post, so I won't do that anymore.

I just wanted to know what people think a good weight for my female gecko is. I didn't think it was that crazy of a question, I just wanted some opinions. I apologize for being a little sharp in the last response. I just got a little frustrated watching the threads around me so active and not one thought on mine.

How old is she? How long has she had MBD? Why is she on baytril? What is her housing/substrate/heat/tankmates? Where did you get her and when? Sorry for all the questions but we need more info in order to answer your questions since she has multiple issues.

I have one girl that has had MANY issues in the past. She was a very sick little rescue. We have had her for 5 years now. Her top weight is usually 37 grams. According to our vet , that is a good weight for her considering her body type and all her past medical history

Ok, so here's the answers to your questions:

Age: estimated 4 years old, 7.5 inches long
MBD: at least 1 year, she had it when she was given to me from a friend and it has deformed her legs so I'm pretty sure she had it for a long time before I got her. The first owner did not supplement with calcium or multivitamins.
Baytril: She was given Baytril partly to help with a sore she had on her foot from getting infected, and partly to help her feel better after a bad shed and help her to start eating again. She was also prescribed calcium oral injections for about two weeks to help with the MBD.
Housing: 20gallon long glass aquarium tank, three hides (one on both hot and cold side, humid hide on warm side), water bowl, calcium dish, paper towel substrate (before that she was on repticarpet), temps: 92 hot side, 87 cool side, no tank mates.

I got her from a friend of mine who was going away to college and couldn't take her. When I got her she was not eating and very thin at 13.7g. My friend always put the mealworms in the dish but the leo wasn't eating them and very lethargic. I got her to start eating again and she gained weight to about 27g.

About two months ago she had a very bad shed and her eyes dried out so that she could not see. She lost weight, about 22g. I brought her to the vet and that's when she was prescribed all the medication, as well as saline drops in her eyes. At this point she stopped being interested in regular mealworms, but she would eat mealworms squished up on a baby spoon, so that is what I have been feeding her. She is gaining weight and a lot of color back into her skin, last night she weighed 33.2 grams.

Ok, so that's all I can think to put in here. I hope I answered all the questions, if you have more questions, let me know and I will do my best to answer you.
