I do twice to three times a week with a mixture of calcium and herptitive. I should also use D3 but I don't have any right now. I also have two bottle caps in the cage with calcium and herptitive in them so the geckos can get it if they want it.

Dust crickets with Calcium + D3 once per week and leave a bowl of PURE calcium in the tank at all times.

A LOT. When they're small, they can never have too much Calcium. For hatchlings, neonates, and sub-adults we have a dish of mealies in there full time that are covered in calcium dust... Sometimes I pour a little too much and the mealies are almost swimming in it! This is okay for subadults, but sometimes the little ones dont get the concept of diving for their mealworms.

REMEMBER: There is no such thing as too much Calcium!!! When they start getting bags of fluid underneath their arms that means that they're getting more than normal, but I've never seen a problem with too much Cal. Too little and you wind up with a whole mess of problems that are much worse than a small cosmetic flaw!

Well, in my opinion there is the possibility of too much calcium. If you start to notice their stool is like grey mud you've given too much.. There is always the possibility of too much of a good thing..

Just look at my gutt! :main_laugh:

For hatchlings, neonates, and sub-adults - we dust every other feeding (which they are fed daily) and there is always a small dish of calcium in their enclosure at all times.

Hypercalcemia - can cause a host of problems in some animals - constipation, renal problems, vomiting, and anorexia.

I've never witnessed this but my vet has talked to me about it before.

I would definitely give them a good amount each week and leave a constant supply on hand at all times, and make sure you're feeders are well stocked with guttload, and dusted often.

We essentially dust our mealies just about every feeding, whether its with calcium, vionate, or herptivite. they are rarely getting straight mealies. Off hand I think it's once a week. Even then our mealworms are well gut loaded with pro gutload, vionate, and potatoes.

Now that I think about it.. my gex eat better foods than I do !

Just my two cents..

Now i'm off to Burger King ! ;)

Also, they get rid of the excess calcium thorough their "pee rocks". Its those little white things that are with the poo.

the guy who owns a reptile shop down here said to dust them every day with calcium, and one day with multi. i actually do a little mixture with them so they get both in one dusting. i do 6/7 of calcium and 1/7 of D3. i dust them around 4-5 times a week. i dust the babies every day though. and keep dish of calcium and D3 mix around in the cage. i have one juvie that is always in the calcium all the time, just hogging it up, and when he comes up he has a white mark of his mouth and nose. of course is had to name him Scarface.

Unless you shove an outrageous amount of calcium down their throat they will just pee out the excess. This coming from my vet. He said the main thing is to be carefull on the D3. 1-2 dustings of D3 a week is ok for babies and gravid females. Adults won't need it as much since they would be done growing. Leave a dish of plain calcium in the cage and do your regular dustings.
