How often do they shed?

New owner so maybe I'm just overreacting. My gecko is 2-3 months old and I've had him for about 3 weeks. He's been eating great since day one on a mixture of crickets, mealworms, and phoenix worms. Mealies and crickets are kept on a diet of mustard greens, collard greens, and kale with a carrot for moisture. Sometimes I throw in a few orange cubes. I keep him in a 20gal L with paper towels as substrate and 4 hides. The temps are good but I'm going to get a thermostat soon to keep it more consistent. He shows no signs of shedding. Again, maybe I'm overreacting since I figured a younger reptile would shed more often/quickly than an adult if it's properly looked after.

When our youngest leo was about that age she shed every 1-2 weeks, now she's about 6 months old and sheds maybe twice per month, that we notice. Chances are, he's already shed and you just didn't catch it. Usually they look paler and ashy for a day or two before they shed, but not every gecko has an obvious color change, and they can shed pretty quickly. Our tangerine, from start to finish, takes less than an hour, while our supersnow can take up to a full day depending on how lazy she's being. Your little one may have just shed overnight, and since they eat their shed skin there wouldn't be any evidence left behind for you to discover.

It sounds like he's well taken care of, so I wouldn't worry. I'm betting you just haven't caught him in the act.

I agree with Jaiden. You probably just haven't seen your leo shedding. Make sure to check the toes, tail and eyes for stuck shed every now and again. My leo is still a juvie and sheds once about every 2 weeks. I never see mine shed. I just know when she's about to shed because she's a Banana Blizzard and gets REALLY white, then goes into her moist hide and pretty much stays there for 24 hours. I've never actually witnessed her in the middle of a shed though. If yours is eating and the poop looks nice and solid. Active with bright eyes, then I wouldn't worry. :)

I check toes when I hold him but see nothing caught on them. I've just noticed no difference with him since I've got him. Colors don't go dull before a shed or brighter/different after a shed. If he has shed, at least. He seems to be doing good all around except for this, lol. Has been eating and pooping daily since I got him.

they are very secretive and ninja like some times. i dont even notice most of my girls shedding. My male on the other hand likes to knock his cage around while trying to shed as he rubs against every thing.

When they are little like yours it's harder to tell with the color. once they get bigger it becomes quite obvious. I never knew mine was going to shed until after I had her for a couple of months, because she started getting her normal coloration. Then it was really easy to tell.

Now there's a more noticeable difference in color on half of his head and he's been licking his nose a lot more often. So I guess he'll be starting a shed soon. A difference two days can make :p
