How to go about handling etc

Ok so my crested is settling in a lot better now and is seeming like he is making himself at home. Before I rush into handling him how should I go about it without stressing him out too much especially on his first time out. With my leos I left my hand in the enclosure for several minutes for a bout a week (each day) and eventually they came to me. Will he be the same? Also, when I do get him out i'm guessing hes going to be a bit jumpy etc what should I do if he manages to jump away from me? I mean, I don't want to go grabbing him and his tail falls off or something like that.

I would do the same technique that you used with your leos, then if he is still a little reluctant just put your hand in front of him and give him a little nudge from behind and he should walk on your hand, almost like a tarantula. Then I would sit on the floor in case he jumps it won't be a high fall. Most important thing is to not panic if he jumps, because like you said you don't want to grab his tail or anything. He shouldn't be too fast on the ground so just use the same method you used to take him out of the cage and it should work, that's how I got my old one used to handling.
