how to kick start a colony

I'm tired of buying cricket at 12$ for 100 crickets, it's a rip off where I live. So I'm thinking of starting a Dubia Roach colony. I have two full grown and a juvie leos and they eat arount 40-45 crickets every week.

My question is how many couples of adutl breeder / nymphs would I need to buy from the start to immediately start feeding my leos and be worried free of those crickets? Also enough for the colony to start and go on as long as I want them to go.

12 bucks per 100, ouch. There is 2 ways you could do it, well im sure more than 2, but this is my suggestion. You could buy about 100 mixed nymphs and feed from them slowly while you wait for the adults to lay or just buy a couple adults and wait for them to lay.
