I have a 20 g that housed freshwater fish a little over a year ago. I want to be sure there's no residing hazards from the fish.
Bleach should work, possibly, if its bleach to water ratio is 1:16 or 1:8, then rinsed many times over the next week and allowed to air... I have heard that bleach has a short half life and would then further break down on its own.
Wanted to double-check in case bleach would hurt the future gecko.
Also, since bleach must not be effective against every type of hazard, does anybody recommend any subsequent disinfectants?
This is the tank btw. Styrofoam pieces will be grouted, painted, and sealed with several coats of safe sealant. Glass sliding doors and tile sunstrate are soon to be added. Everything will be removable for hosing down as needed.
