I'm posting this as a reminder to never get too comfortable with your set ups. We only have 3 leos. They're kept in my boys' room. We check on them daily, but we were slacking on the temp gun checks lately.
My 7 yr old unknowingly unplugged his leo's UTH the other day. It may have been off for a day, maybe 2. I realized something wasn't right when his leo was hanging out in the "wrong" area. I took him out & man, was he cold. Mind you our house is 70, but brrr. I took him downstairs with me & kept him on my arm for a couple of hours while the UTH warmed back up. All is well now.
My poor kid cried when I told him. He was afraid that he had seriously hurt his gecko. Now we're labeling our gecko plugs. I'm going to move the temp gun to a place where Gabe can check the cages too. That's the end of my gecko-public-service announcement.
