What kind of substrate do you guys use in your humid hides? Right now I'm just using a damp paper towel, but I was wondering what other substrates would work. I read somewhere that Zoo Med Forest Floor Bedding was good, but I wanted to get some input from you guys. I don't want my little friend ingesting the stuff and getting sick/impacted. Thanks!

I use sphagnum moss and coconut fiber (aka Ecoearth and I think the Zoomed Forest Floor stuff is the same thing). I know others also use vermiculite or peat moss. If you pick the latter two up from the hardware store its important to make sure what you get is organic - anything that says miracle grow is not okay.

I use spagnum moss that I actually bought at Home Depot. Its organic with no added chemicals, dyes, etc. It also says on the back that it is safe for vivarium/reptile use. Its a decent size bag for about $4. I found it in the garden section. Teak seems to like it. I spray it about every 3 or 4 days to keep it moist and Teak likes to lay and dig in it. I haven't had any problems with him eating it.
