Yo,
So I want to switch to some sort of moss for my gecko's humid hide. I'm looking to get something that's easy to acquire and inexpensive. I've heard of sphagnum moss and coconut fibers? What are the differences between these and are there any others? What's the general maintenance requirements for them? Which one do you prefer and why?

Here is what you do if you live in the USA. Go to lowes and go to the lawn and gaEden section, it's normally outside with the fertilizer and stuff.
They sell a big bag of spaghnum moss for like $4 I mean the bag is pretty big. It looks like a big brick, I'd say about 18 inches long by 5 inches tall by 5 inches wide it's a big block of spaghnum moss.
It's the cheapest I've found it and it will last a long time. I put some inside a Tupperware container and get it damp. I cut a hole in the Tupperware lid so the Leo can get in and out from the top of the container. I put my humid hide in the middle of the tank so it's inbetween the hot and cold side.

I have to get it wet about every 3 days as it will dry out, if you get it too wet it might mold I don't know. I get it to where it is soaking wet then I just grab I and squeeze the water out of it. Then it is nice and damp I just put it in the tank and check it every other day to see if it needs to get watered down again.
I change it out completely about every 7-9 days.
