ok guys so i plan on breeding this season and getting everything prepared, i built myself a diy incubator and here comes the question at hand..

should there be a actual humidity percentage of the incubator itself..not the egg containers(i am using the perlite to water ratio) but humidity of the actual incubator itself

the diy incubator is just a thick styrofoam container, heatmat, and a egg crate shelf to put the egg containers on. my friends are searching for a used mini fridge that i can convert.

I guess it would depend on if the containers you're using to put the eggs in are sealed or vented to the air in the incubator. If the containers are sealed the correct humidity should be in them if you're using the correct water ratio with the perlite. You'd just have to burp the containers at least once a week for an air exchange. This is what I do and have had success with.

If you put air holes in your containers, I'm assuming the Perlite will eventually dry out to some level. I'm guessing you'd have to put a bowl of water or something to maintain humidity? I'm not sure what the exact humidity levels would be that the eggs need. It's probably some where in the egg incubation section.

There does not have to be any humidity in the incubator itself. There is no need for it since you have the humidity in the egg container itself which is the perlite
