hypercalcemia treatment

Never had anything like this, this got me depressed:/

I gave a vet a visit with a 4 of my female geckos for deworming (pinworms). She suggested that she could give them some calcium as it is breeding season and for sure it will help them build eggs better.

It's been 2 weeks since the visit, 1 died immediately within a few days. None of the remaining geckos are eating, they've started shedding like crazy and atop of that they don't shed properly, with huge difficulties. I'm quite certain she overdosed calcium.
It is half of my collection. I do not want to go back to her as I'm afraid i could get really unpleasant. I would rather avoid testing out a new vet as well...

Can anyone give me hope and suggest a way to fight this? Or are they doomed and just suffering?

thanks for all input.

I don't know of any treatments, just withholding calcium to prevent further damage. I know hypercalcemia exists. Maybe someone else has more information.

I would say get a necropsy done on the one that died and confirm hypercalcemia and then sue the pants off of the vet who OD'd them. :main_angry: But I'm sure it's too late, and you probably didn't preserve the body?

I'm sorry I don't have any tips. I hope you don't lose any of the others.

I really don't have much advice for you, but I am very sorry for your loss. Was this vet an actual doc that specialized in reptiles? I know that you said you really don't want to try another vet, but perhaps you could call around to find one that specialize's in reptiles and maybe they will even be able to give you the basics on the ramifications of what your vet did, and what could be done to help over the phone.
