Ok so its been 3 days now since my darker blizzard began shedding. I know its normal sometimes expecially with babies for the process to go slowly. But I feel bad for him/her lol. The leo has shed all of the shed except for the front of the nose and around the eyes. And he/she doesn't seem to pleased about it either. Poor thing is rubbing itself against EVERYTHING like its really bothering it.

Anyways I've tried misting the gecko a bit, I've been keeping the moist hide filled with moss humid and wet. And it just seems to continue having problems mastering shedding.

My dilema is I want to help, but I was allways taught never to physically interfere with shedding because it could cause injury. Expecially around the eyes. So this q-tip method everyone talks about kinda skitz's me out I dont know if I could bring myself to do it.

Should I just let him fight it out?

At this point I think a little gentle coaxing of the shed would be good. It's true you can cause injury pulling it off too quick, but leaving it on can cause problems, too. Try to pull it super gentle to see if it comes off really easily. It may just need something to pull against to get the shed off.

I always help out my geckos if they have retained shed in those tough areas...such as the head and groin area (why do my males always have a piece left near their vent?). Usually, I just wet the area and pull it off with tweezer. If its the head and eye area, I'll wet a cotton ball or cotton square and gently rub it off; or rub until it peels and then I very slowly pull it off.

My little female has problems shedding too, I think she's only shed perfectly once. I let her take care of all she can and after a few hours of going psycho in her tank I take off the rest with a soak in warm water & a wet Q-tip. She squeeks at me a lot but she's fine in the end.
