Looks like it just molted.crickets look just like that after a fresh molt.did it turn brown again in a couple hours?

Yeah, they look freaky after they molt. You should see the adult dubia roaches after! Creepy!

All animals with an external skeleton have to molt to grow. That includes insects, spiders, crabs, etc. It is a different process than a shed. A molt is a removal of the entire exoskeleton, leaving the animal vulnerable until the new shell dries and hardens. A shed is just a removal of the other layer of skin.

Even humans shed their skin, but we do constantly. Most of the dust in your house is dead skin cells!
