I Can't Believe It!

I go to feed my leos tonight and everything is cool until I get to my super giant albino Giai. When I look in I see her just laying there motionless. I couldn't believe it she was dead with virtually no warning signs. She had laid 7 clutches and the last of her eggs hatched out 2 days ago and tonight shes gone. She was my favorite gecko. I noticed yesterday that she either regurgitated some mealworms or they had passed through undigested but I didn't worry cuz it was the first time and she was big and healthy and eating crickets like crazy. And tonight she's gone. I can't imagine how she could get sick and die that quick. Does anyone know what could infect and kill a leo in one day?

**Up until yesterday all stools were fine and she showed no signs of illness. I can't believe this happened.

I heard somewhere that mealworms can actaully chew through a geckos stomach if they arent chewed properly. I'm not saying its true I'm just saying I heard it somewhere.

This is not true.

I am so very sorry to hear you lost your beloved Giai. I have had the same thing occur, and it makes us feel so helpless when we don't know why an otherwise healthy gecko just dies.

The only think I can think of is that she may have aspirated or choked to death when she regurgitated the mealworms.

I agree with Marcia she could have choked. One of our leo's started getting sick once and she died when her stomach(inside) actually exploded...Check the stomach and if you see a big brown mass, that might be what hapepned too.
