Well I was just out with Dante when he ran towards this little bunny. The bunny froze so I picked it up. I thought it was unusual to see a rabbit this young in August but There is a guy who breeds rabbits a few houses down. I wonder if this one could have escaped. So do I keep it? Bring it to the rabbit breeder?

I couldn't see the pics --

If the bunny is fully furred, ears up, eyes open, and it's hopping, they venture out of the nest at as early as 4 weeks old and very tiny. They can start eating grass at that time. If no dogs or cats can get to the bunny, place him back in the area, preferably in a area with a little seclusion or shelter. If he's real young and the nest wasn't destroyed he might even return to the nest. Your scent won't make mom kill him or anything if he does.

Wild bunnies do not do well with human contact so releasing him will be the best for the bunny. I do wild bird rehab and have a bit of wild mammal rehab experience, and I always try to release baby bunnies unless they are injured or not in a safe area because of their high stress level in captivity.

Aww, there's nothing quite as cute as a baby bunny... especially a free one lol. That's pretty cool that the breeder let you keep it, congrats on your new addition!

what breed does he breed?

It's a cute little thing. Flemish giant or chincilla (rabbit breed) Kinda looks like it, but I'm more into the little dwarfs - I have a netherland dwarf and a netherland dwarf x mini rex (working on a velveteen dwarf) so ya couldn't prove it by me.

So'd the little fella squeeze outta the cage? LOL you'd be surprised how agile the little cusses can be!

I was surprised at how good of a pet a rabbit can make. My beastie is litter box trained, and other than some slight chewing when she was younger has been great! Little cuddle bunny most of the time.
