Where do I place the humid hide, in the cool, or hot spot? I also touched the moss last night and it was dry? How often do I mist the moss? I also mist the inside of the glass cage because I don't know if my gecko is drinking or not, is eating though, eats a lot. LOL. Is it ok to mist the gecko every so often?
Thanks.

Put the humid hide on the warm side... this is what creates the humidity from the misting... you may have to mist daily or even twice a day to keep the humidity up... what alot of people do is leave the humid hide dry and mist when the Gecko is about to shed... this can sometimes be a bad thing as the Gecko wont be familiar with the hide and may not be able to find it when its ready to shed...

DO NOT MIST THE TANK, Geckos need a low humidity to prevent respiratory problems... This is why a humid hide is used as its an exception to the rule... i suggest you read a beginner's guide to keeping Geckos... simply type in "Leopard Gecko care" on Google or a similar search engine...

One thing you can do though is buy an artificial silk plant and take it out of the tank and mist it daily to give drops of water for drinking... make sure you take it out as the less water you spray in the tank the better... im sure if you leave a large but shallow water dish your Gecko will find it as its a life or death situation, but dew drop affects work 2nd best as this creates a natural drinking habit for baby Leopard Gecko's in the wild, adults often use puddles as they are less likely to drown.... any more questions please ask or do as i said before in the search engine...

Humid hide

Yea I don't know if my Gecko is drinking or not, some people say they never see their gecko's drink. The lady at the pet store said to place the humid hide on the cool side. I have my humid hide in the middle and she said that is fine. I won't mist my gecko or the cage if it is a bad thing. I did not know, thanks for your help.

No prob, the humid hide is fine in the middle aslong as its fairly warm... im not insulting the lady at the pet store, nor am i saying everyone working at pet stores is wrong, but most employees havent done degrees and other courses on the welfare of reptiles or even done slight research, your best bet is learning from this forum... when i bought my first Gecko, the people at the pet store said i needed sand and impaction meant that they have had a nice meal and were happy... but fortunatley, i was aware before i got into the hobby and didnt buy anything that they said was needed...

What are you using to heat the tank?
Are you using a uth or an overhead basking bulb?

With a uth I place my moist hides in the middle of the tank in the warmer summer months as the overall air temp rises a bit and the hides tend to dry out really fast if they are right over the uth

For problem sheds I do place the humid hide over the uth and just keep an eye on it drying out

You can mist a fake plant inside the tank
That will not cause a problem for your Leo
Just do not saturate the entire tank with water when you mist

Make sure that you have a shallow dish of water -if this is a young baby
For adults you can use 1/2 lb deli cups or store bought water bowls

Most Leos will drink from a water bowl-you just might not see them doing it

People also mist/spray the side of the tank or tub with very young babies to have moving/dripping water to catch their attention
