But if you're patient, sometimes you can end up with this...RIP my old friend :(

which leads to this (sorry for the poor pics to come, pics circa '98!)

And some cuteness for the last pic.

Do you still have more Tokay projects going or are these are retired projects?

retired...I sent gex's mom and another male tokay to KelliH. She sent them out on loan, but I haven't heard any recent news except if memory serves me right the person who got them on loan to Kelli got out of geckos according to someone I just recently spoke with from here....

BUT, I am working towards getting tokays breeding again.

I'm glad to see people hold a special place for these guys. They're very interesting animals...Though I think fairly misunderstood.I couldn't pass this guy up for cashed up for him!

They were my first gecko species. I got Toodles in Oct 93 an an IOU birthday present from Nov 92!. That's where my interest really fired off. In 5th grade at the time (92) my mom told me if I could come up with the money to properly set up the gecko she'd by it for my birthday. Well, I read just about everything I could find on tokays, starting with a lizard book by Chris Mattison. While researching I also found out about leopard geckos, but couldn't afford one at the time. Leos were $50+, Toodles was $9.99. LOL

Long story short, Toodles died in Oct 2002, 2 months after I moved from Alamogordo, NM to Las Cruces, NM so I could finish up my Bachelor's degree in Bio (class of May 06). I came home on the weekends to care for my 200+ leo geckos, 17 tokays, plus many other herps. The loss of Toodles really upset me as it took me years to tame him down. His son, Gex, was born March 99, is 1-2 inches longer than Toodles and has always been at least 20 grams heavier. AND he's never tamed down. Little brat has roam of a desperately needing cleaning, re-planting, and overall redesigning naturalistic setup 90 gallon Lizard Lounge.

I'd still like to know what happened to the albinos Rare Earth Inc had. I know NERD purchased them, but e-mails to NERD inquiring about the albinos have gone unresponsive. I've been contemplating getting a calico from them. Might contemplate it more seriously if they'd return my e-mails.

I say some pics from the Daytona last year and they had some off the wall pricing on a Tokay morph for $1000. I will have to find those pics in the reptile group in myspace and post them.
I think Tokay's are pretty cool but never seriously thought about owning 1.

Tokay morphs are much more rare than, say, Leopard Gecko morphs, so I can see a morph being $1000. Kind of like the rare morphs with ball pythons (IE: pieds), etc...

But I like my $9 Tokay =)

Ok as promised I found some tokay morph pics I saw from Daytona last year. Had to look through about 100 pages in the myspace forum to find the pics :main_laugh: I remembered about the blue one but then I saw this 1st pic so copied it as well lol
