Hello everyone. I bought a leopard gecko, but he is too skinny, so I need to get him more fat. What is the best food for him? Dubia roaches or crickets? I need to get more fat. Now I use crickets with some vitamins. So what would you recommend?

To put weight on your leo, make sure its setup is ideal: proper temps, a good gradient, plenty of hides, fresh water, etc. If you have crickets and roaches, I'd feed both, as a variety is always better. As far as vitamins, this is the most commonly suggested: T-Rex Leopard Gecko Calcium Plus Supplement Reptile Food Supplements Dust every single feeder with it.

Also, do you know why it's thin? Was it not being cared for properly? A vet visit would be a good idea to make sure there are no underlying issues like parasites or vitamin/calcium deficiencies.

Thank you for great answer. I'm pretty sure that my setup is correct. I have one more other gecko and he is nice think his setup is good. Fresh water every day, vitamins every feeding, good temp etc.
The other one gecko, skinny one, is skinny because i got him from the petstore and he didn't get great care and feeding too.

Okay, then with a proper setup and some time, I'm sure he'll fatten right up. :)

And I probably will feed him every day.
Yes, feed him every day. Do you have any pics of him? And how old is he? If he's totally emaciated, you don't want to give him as much as he'll eat right away. His body might not be able to handle it. If he's just thin, though, you'll be fine to feed him daily as much as he wants.

Most geckos in captivity are overweight, which as in humans is harmful to their health. Look for some pictures of wild leos to get a better idea of healthy body weight. Fatty foods such as mealworms and superworms willl cause it to put on weight faster than leaner foods such as dubia/crickets.

Something else that can be fed to help bulk up an underweight Leo are hornworms or butterworms. Both are fairly nutritious, and hornworms are great for hydration. The only downside is that they are a bit pricier than other feeders.
