I need weekend trip ideas in Arizona...

So my boyfriend has been working his @$$ off at work lately and he is going to get a whole two days off in a couple weeks giving him a four day weekend. I would really love it if we could go out of town for a night or two just to give him a break, but I have no idea where to go! We have only lived in Arizona for a year, so we don't really know where any of the get-away spots are around here. Ideally I would like to rent a cabin or condo type of place for a night or two where we can take our dogs (we have no one to watch them) and go hiking or swimming in a lake or something of the sort. We don't mind driving 4-5 hours. Any ideas???

Sedona has some cool, kinda out-back ranch houses around Oak Creek that are a nice vacation spot. I'm not sure if they allow dogs though. I think some of them do, not sure. Here is a link to the one I went vacationing at for 4 nights this summer. Its a little older now, these pictures were taken a white ago. Hope I helped oh yea theres no grass in the front lawn anymore. well hardly any. its all kinda dead now. but if you go behind the house there is a tiny man made stream type thing if you follow a trail type thing and cross over that, theres a big field and if you cross over that the creek is right there and you dont need to pay to get in its part of renting the ranch house if you follow the trails along the creek there are several different swimming areas and there are fishing areas as well(if you get up early) somewere in hte creek as well
