I think I might be haveing mut puppies!

A few weeks ago my australian cattle dog went into heat. I thought I did a very good job at keeping her away from my male yorki Bishion mix. Now I'm not so sure I did a very good job. She is gaining a lot of weight and I sware her little nipples are getting bigger.
Any one know of any clues I could look for to tell me if she really is pregnant or not? :main_robin: I have not been around a pregnant dog since I was a kid. I don't really want to get an ultrasound done. I don't really want to deal with puppies either! But I guess if she is I have no choice. It's my own fault. I keept the male in a crate when I was sleeping and when I had to leave the house. I keept a good eye on them when they were out together. They must have done it while my back was turned for 5 minutes! They are so sneeky!

I hope she is just getting fat!

ummm.........they used to have an injection that a vet could give the bitch to prevent unwanted puppies-not sure if they still do that or what the time fame is for it-I think that it was given very soon after a suspected mating
Kinda like a morning after pill
They can also spay a bitch if it is within the first week or so after mating but it sounds like she is fairly far along if her nipples are getting bigger
It sounds to me like she is preggers-I guess that you will just have to give the pups away and it doesn't take long for them to do the deed when they are not kept completely separated and even if you were to have been watching them 24/7 if they mated-I don't think that you could have gotten them apart

Thanks for the info. I could never have the puppies aborted. If she is I will just have to find good homes for all of them.

Thanks guys! I have not determined if she is in fact pregnant or not. But I think it will be fun to have some puppies around. I'm always up for a challenge. My biggest challenge will be not wanting to part with them.
