Hi guys

As some of you may know i'm quite new to Leo's in general...i've had my first female for about 2 weeks now and i bought two more 3 days ago. They have all settled into my 3FT viv nicely and are all getting on. I have a spare viv so i was thinking about getting a male to start breeding them with.
I've tried searching for all the answers i need but if you can spare me ten minutes i've still got a few questions that need answering...;-)

1) Would it be best to buy a male, let him settle into my sparte viv and then introduce my females to him one by one?
2) If i'm succesfull and she lays eggs do i then take her out (after a few days or so) and put her back into my other viv with the other females...so basically the male stays in his own tank all year round and the females only go into his viv for mating!?
3)I'm looking at buying the 'Hovabator' to incubate the eggs...are these simple to set up? How many eggs can they hold at max?

Thanks for taking the time to help me out...

wait did you not quarntine the other leos before you put them with your female?

at any rate the male does need to be in a seperate tank period but you need to quarntine him from the females for at least a month

Breeding them is a big step so I hope youre actually prepared and really wanting to do this. If you just bought two more three days ago and just put them in the viv that is already there, this is not the best thing for them. You definitely have to quarntine them first before putting them all together...they may seem like their getting along but they are most active at night and they could be fighting for territory. Leos don't need "friends" and do best usually when they are each in their own tank.

Keeping your females in seperat set ups will also allow you to keep better track of your eggs. It sounds to me like your anxious, I suggest taking your time and doing it right. get your hova bator and get your temps set. Do you have a rack set up for your babies? with three females your babie count can add up quick.I say get your set up and supplies ready first, meanwhile do some reading. then start your breeding:main_thumbsup:
