I am over dealing with couriers like UPS, FedEx, and DHL, Instead I am looking into shipping with Delta Dash. On their site it says that packaging must conform to IATA Live Animal Regulations, which, apparently you can buy a book on for $130, something I am not really interested in.

I am wondering if anyone knows what they are [and can give me an overview] or, knows where I can find information on the subject.

Also if anyone can give me tips and info on shipping with delta, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Tamara, I have had an account with Delta for over 5 years. Most of the IATA regulations relates to Hazardous Materials. Delta refers to it for shipping Cats, Dogs, and birds, which Delta ships a lot of. I use shipping boxes from Superior Enterprises Click here

Hey, Thanks for the response. In the email they sent me, you dont need to become a "known shipper" to ship warm blooded animals with them, which, of course I am not shipping.

These are the boxes I use:

Do the regulations only apply to the type of box you use? What other specifications for shipping reptiles do they have?

Thanks again,
tamara

The boxes you use are the best in the industry...IMO, and yes you need to be verified by Delta, years back we had to have our local rep visit our home. They simply want to verify you are doing, what you say you are.

As far as the shipping regs, they want a package, with an inner package ie, Styrofoam lined box with a snake bag in it, or Styrofoam lined box with a taped deli cup inside. It is what is commonly referred to as inner packaging. Basically keeping the animal from escaping if the box gets damaged.

And while it is not an IATA requirement always mark your packages "Harmless Live Reptiles "Boa Constrictor Imperator"" (obviously for non-venomous) or whatever the species is. That is a Lacy act deal. I know a lot of people do not do that, but it can cause a lot of grief.

I hope that helps ;O)
