I am using those small deli cups from solo as food and water dished, and was wondering if anyone has made something to eep them in place? My geckos keep tipping them over, and moving them all over the place.
I looked at the idea in Tremper's book, and may modify it a bit... does anyone know if I could safely use "quick-crete" as a mortar and poor it around the cups in a little "mold"? Any other ideas would be great too. Thanks everyone.

I tried many different things. Tape, a rock, wedged between hides. Nothing ever really seemed to work after a while. I use glass rammicans from walmart at $1 a piece and I haven't had any tipovers since. I use one for the mealies and one for water. All my geckos caught on pretty quickly.:main_thumbsup:

I use the little Exo-Terra dish for water and a porcelain sauce bowl for his mealies.

the porcelain bowls are like 4 bucks though... way to many when you need 14+ of them... I couldnt see the hide, there was no indication that a picture was even there.

Yeah, you'll need to log in to see the pic then. It's just a plastic "U" upside down with a couple holes drilled to hold the dishes. I think in Tremper's book he suggested some sort of concrete that he'd place the dishes in while it's wet? It seemed a bit much IMO though.

I just use petri dishes for the babies, they're really cheap and if they're deep enough you won't get much in the way of escapes. Every now and again the geckos will flip them...but it's pretty rare. For the adults I use either the lee's dishes or the typical porcelain ones. If you check around online you'll probably find better deals. Good luck!

I would not use those flimsy things.
Get some decent food and water bowles from the pet store :main_yes:

I know a lot of people have mentioned getting the glass ashtrays from walmart...they're pretty cheap. We got some shallow glass bowl things from the Dollar Tree...you see people on cooking shows use them for stuff that's already measured out, we got 4 of them for a dollar...they work great for us! I would suggest buying something heavier....it would be a whole lot easier than trying to deal with tape all the time (I would think)...but then again, I've never done that...so I don't know! *shrug*

I buy Ramikans from Walmart for about $.75 each. They work fantastic!

You can check LeapinLizards PVC plug dishes, Lol.. They are simple and easy to make if you have the right tools.
