Sharing my experience here in case anyone is interested in spying on their gecko! I use 2 TP-Link Tapo 2K Pan/Tilt Indoor Security Cameras. They hook up wirelessly to my phone and computer, can record, and also the cameras rotate so I can follow my gecko when he's active. You can also program in 'positions' that you can click and the cameras will move to a pre-programmed spot.
I have one attached to the ceiling in a corner and another on the ground. Security cameras are generally not great for close up (6-10 inches) away, so when I had a smaller 20gal I had the cameras outside looking in so I could place them farther away. However, the glare would sometimes distort the images. With a 40gal I can get far enough away that it isn't a big issue.
Below is a screenshot of the camera display on my computer. I can control them through computer or phone. They also have night vision. I think I paid about $60 for a set of 2. Not expensive. Has anyone else found a better option for cameras for their terrarium?
