How long is a while?

Herman went two days, but I think I had too many papers in his dry hide/out house. I put less in last night and he had pooped in there this morning.

I have to admit, I was a little worried about him.

Mineral Oil

I assume that you mean Mineral Oil and not Mineral Water.

I am not sure "exactly" what it is or should I say what it is made of.

But, if you need to get some go to the Drug Store.:main_thumbsup:

Sometimes they may have it at the Grocery Store too.

we just got some mineral oil for one of our gecks lastnight... go to the drug store and look in the laxitive section... its a clear "odorless, tasteless colorless" laxitive... if you do only give your gecko one or 2 drops on its nose and let it lick it off :) best of luck!

You can use olive oil instead of mineral oil (same procedure - put a drop on your gecko's nose and let them lick it off).

Olive oil is my preference since it's a food product and whatever doesn't go right through your gecko will be absorbed and metabolized.

Mineral oil (even 'food grade' or medicinal mineral oil) is a petroleum product - it's actually a byproduct of refining gasoline - and I just can't bring myself to eat it or feed it to an animal.

:main_huh:how old is the gecko? i've had Eliza for almost a year and she only poops about once a week. even my juvie will sometimes wait 2-3 days. neither of them are on sand and i monitor their eating very well so there is no risk of impaction. when they gotta go they'll go :main_thumbsup:. just a warning though- if they are just holding it for some reason, you will wake up to a major turd thinking "how did that fit in there":main_huh:

As long as the tank conditions are right, and they are eating, dont
worry, the poop will come! ;)
3 days is not so long.

To keep your geckos regular, it is important to provide a variety
in diet, particularly foods with moisture, like (properly gut loaded)
crickets.
I think I've said this about 1000 times, but folks who insist on feeding
their leo only mealies are not doing them any favors. Mealies are
relatively low in moisture, and high in fat.

I do feed a variety consisting of waxworms, mealworms, superworms. Crickets I sometimes feed to Iggy but she doesn't plain like them >.>. Shes about a year old weighing about 55 grams. Shes not losing weight I'm going to try the olive oil.

Another way you can do the oil, you can put a few drops on
a cricket and hand feed (or, better yet, use feeding tweezers).

I personally think this method is easier.

P.S. you will get some oil on your fingers, but you will have a
very greasy cricket!!
Think of it like take-out Chinese food!! :D
Just dont over do it, or your leo will be leaking oil from his vent
for a few days, and it will be a mess!!

Well I got some crickets and coated them with a bit of olive oil. She would smell it then lick it and then walk away. Tried it with a superworm no results. Then i tried it with a not coated cricket and she took it. What I just did i put a dab of oil onto my finger and put it on her nose. She licked it :D. Just waiting for her to poop now :d

LOL! she is probably trying to get the taste out of her mouth :D

Actually mineral oil works best because it has no taste or odor.
