Iguana/Lizard Website
I was just watching PBS and their Nature Series ran a special on lizards which actually got me off of the computer and in front of the TV for a change
I thought that it was a very good General Info special on lizards-lots of nice footage of Chams and Marine Iggy's and Komodo Dragons and Gila monsters
Then they showed a man named Henry LizardLover-no kidding
He actually changed his name to that
He has around 40 lizards-from what i gathered quite a few of them are Iggy's
So after the program was over i went and did a search and came up with his website
What really got me interested was that he was talking about singly kept male Iggy's and the problems that can arise during mating season when they are so hormonally pumped up that they will confuse a human for a male Iggy because they really have never been around another male Iggy in their entire lives
I have a 7 yr old male iggy and this was a possibility in their behavior that I was not aware of at all
Obviously I have not had to deal with an overly amorous Spike or an overly enraged Spike to this date but regardless of the fact that I was ignorant of this behavior-I always watch Spikes body language when I am interacting with him because I respect his size and strength
He does free roam and hopefully he won't ever mistake one of the cats for another male Iggy
It was pointed put that NOT All male Iggy's get as severe in their aggression as some do and there are ways using a simple relocation to another room in the house that he is not familiar with and that would make him less self confident until this hormonal period passes
Anyway- I thought the website was full of some very interesting stuff
He has taken some very cool pics in human like settings of his Iggy's
I haven't browsed the entire website yet-I'm kinda tired-its around 3:30 am and i need to go to sleep
But I did want to post this because I think that it deserves a look by anyone keeping or interested in keeping Iggy's
G'night or G'Morning
Which ever way you want to look at it
