hi

i have two Leo geckos my female is laying eggs but the egg have never made it to full term either she kills them or i must be doing something wrong she normal buries the egg or lays them in the water or meal worm tub,

i normal incubate them by putting sand in a tommy tank adding a tub of water and putting the eggs in a tub sat on vermiculite i normal take the eggs out to wet the vermiculite taking care not to turn the eggs the heat for the incubation is provided buy the heat lamp on top of the tanks and the terminator reads about 80f to 85f

is there anything i am doing wrong and could i but the female in a another tank to reduce the chance that she wont kill them

thanks alot

I don't know where to start really.

You need a real incubator if you want any type of consistent success. You shouldn't be taking the eggs out of whatever it is you are incubating them in, nor disturbing them at all. How is it your female is getting to them? You should have a lid on the container they are in and why does the female have access to them anyways?? They shouldn't be in the same tank at all. As far as your temps go....80-85 isnt going to cut it. That's WAY too much of a variance in temperature. You should get an incubator and a thermostat or get a mini fridge type and keep your temps within one degree the whole time. IF by some miracle using the method you are using you were to hatch a gecko, you are risking it having deformities because of the temperature fluctuations. Using heat lamps for heat is wrong not only for eggs, but it's not the best for heating your geckos either. You should provide your geckos with a UTH, but that's a whole seperate issue.

What you really should do is use the SEARCH button above and start reading threads that deal with egg incubation. Or simply google "leopard gecko egg incubation" and you will find a great deal of useful information. I'm not quite sure why you would even be breeding right now not knowing at least the basics of egg incubation. PLEASE do some research right away for the well being of the eggs as well as for your geckos too. Best of luck.
