Hi Everyone,

I have 2 eggs incubating with the temp between 80 -82 degrees.I've had the 2 eggs for 23 days there and i have been thinking of moving them to the other incubator which has temp between 87-89 degrees. So how does this affect the egg? for example i know it would hatch faster but does this affect color and attitude?

Thanks
Jose

I know quite a few breeders that use this incubation method. The few times I have tried it, it resulted in killing the embryo, so I just let my eggs incubate at the same temperature for the whole duration.

If your goal is to get brightly colored females the safest way about doing that is just incubating the eggs at 86 degrees the whole time. Yes you will end up with males but also some very nice females as well.

I had the same problem last year. I was incubating them for females around 82 or so. Then after a month i moved them up to around 88 and almost all the eggs i tried this with died. The problem i had i believe is that when i increased the temperature the humidity also increased due to the increase in temperature. So i finally just left them alone at 82 and had a number of babies hatch. Some beauties hatched at that temp. I am gonna give it a try this year, but haven't had the chance yet.

I have no experience with this, but have read that if you do choose to do this; you should wait for a month (to lock in hatchling sex) then gradually increase the temp to 88 (1-2 degrees each day???). Because any drastic changes in temps cause deformities & fatalities.

Again, I have no experience (yet) but have read a lot of pros/cons about it. Good luck!
