Incubator temp

I had a short power outage the other day and it got me thinking. What if the power outage lasted long enough for the temps in the incubator to drop. Any idea about how much temps can drop and how fast before they risk damage to the embryo? Also how quickly should you raise temps back up to your desired incubation temp if they do drop? Thanks.

It really depends on how well insulated and sealed your incubator is. My gut says that it probably dropped faster than you'd guess. Anything under 80 degrees isn't good but but lower it goes the worse off you are. How long have the eggs been incubating. I would think that the farther along they are the better they could handle something like that.

As for heating them back up I would just set the incubator to the temp you want and let it rock.

Thanks for the reply. The incubator is a homemade 60 qt cooler and has been running since this weekend. No eggs yet but my girls are ovulating or are showing eggs in their belly. Hope to get some eggs soon. I was just wondering about temp drops if it happens when the eggs are in the incubator.

I just picked up a free surge protection with battery backup today (battery was dead so I'll need to replace it) to help if a power outage does happen again.

Again thanks for the info.
