I'm also thinking in switching to dubias. I have a foam background so I can't feed my leos in they're own home. I'm just to tired of those cricket climbing everywhere. Possible solution... Dubia Roach?

How does a colony work? I heard that a full grown roach is to big to be fed to a full grown leo. If it's true then how fast to they grow? Cause let say I buy a couple or two breeders with a bunch of babies. What happen if I don't have the time to feed all the babies before they're to big, do I just let them grow full size and live in the Tupperware?

Also, can they infest a house if some escape? Just the name roach sound sketchy haha.

Thanks in advance.

Dubias cannot climb glass, but tey can cclimb egg cartons therfore indicating that climbing a foam background would not be much trouble. If you are looking for something that can't climb the wall I would reccomend keeping meal worms in a dish.

Full grown females do get quite big, but you dont want to feed them off as they will live for quite a while and keep popping babies out. Adult males are accepted by adult geckos. Since a ration of 1:3 (male:females) is best, after the colony is established alot of the time you will just be feeding the extra males (and young rooaches if you have hatchlings/juvis). It all depends on your climate as to whether or not they can survive outside the container. I know that up in Ohio I'm good:D

I only have three geckos and the only thing that's stopping me to get more is the cost
of their food. The two full grown eat 6-7 cricket each every second and the juvenile eat 6-7 cricket every night. I live in N-B Canada and the crickets price is insane. 12$ with tax for 100 crickets (Pets Unlimited). So that's almost 40$ per month to feed them :(

One last thing, does anyone know where I could get Dubia Roach online that would ship in Canada for a resonable price?

I'm not 100% sure, but while "googling" for dubia in canada I stumbled upon some forums that said roach are illegal in Canada. Could that be true? If yes that would be ashame :(
