I have an 8 week old bell albino male who likes to wave his tail back and forth slowly. The tail is almost upright and its like he is "drawing" the letter S in the air. There is no food around when he does it and he is in a tank on his own. Is it perhaps that he can see his own reflection in the glass or is there some other reason for this behaviour?

it's a stress response. basically he thinks something is going to eat him. the behavior is called flagging and it's an attempt to entice the predator to attack the tail rather than the head.

how long have you had the gecko livivng with you?
might just be still getting used to its new abode.

in mean time you should try to:
1. minimize any reflection he could be seeing of him self in the glass of the viv.
2. check there is nothing in the room reflecting light into the viv such as a mirror.
3. minamize any other animal contacts such as cats and dogs that go in the room/ near the viv.
