Hey :), :help: i recently purchased a bell albino morph leo to go in with my other one that i have had for 2 months now there both about 4-5 months of age ( i think ) i am positive that the one i have had for a couple of months is a female it doesnt have the little pores on the underside next to its tail, anyway i put my new leo in last night and at first echo ( the one ive had for a bit ) came out of his hide and was curious as to why another leo was in his tank but then his tail started shaking as he slowly walked over to the new one and all of a sudden he pounced at it lol now this has happened twice other times echo just slowly follows the other one about and ofcourse the new leo compltely ignores it and runs away and shows no interest in echo but he/she is stressed because of its moving to a new enviroment, i was just wondering is this normal behaviour ? now its got to the point they both sleep in the moist hide together without echo bothering but at times echo waves his tail round and it sits in an upright position and i get worried because i dont know whats going on if anyone could please let me know what i should do and if this is normal it would be greatly apreciated thanks alot :main_thumbsup:

You should have quarantined the new Leo to prevent the possible spread of infection from your new one to your old one. If I were you, I'd separate both of them for a little bit and make sure that they each individually thrive before placing them together again.

Edit - That tail waving you're seeing is a defensive behavior, basically just saying "back off."

A few quick things..

1. You needed to quarantine the new gecko in his own tank as to prevent new disease from spreading to your existing gecko. Ideally you want to isolate the new gecko for a period of at least 30-60 days.

2. Tail waving and rattling are not good signs, you should separate them immediately. At 4-5 months of age your geckos will be going into sexual maturity soon. If you have two males, they would likely cause injuries to each other, even death is possible. If you have a male and female, the male will attempt to mate with the female too early, causing problems for your female. If you have two females, and they are still tail waving and snapping at each other, then they are not getting along at all. So at this point I'd recommend separating them immediately regardless of their sex.

3. Take pics of the under side of your geckos near the base of their tails, people here can help you identify their sex.

Good luck.
