Okay, so as I have been mentioning the last couple of days I have added another member to my family. Her name is Cynder and she is a fire skink. I finally got to take some pictures, so here are some :) Enjoy

Jenn, they freak my mom out too, they remind her of snakes. She doesn't even want to see my fire skink haha

I've been reading that a single one should be housed in no less than a 20 gal.

To Jenn and Pepper: my husband is cool with skinks, but also says they look like snakes with legs! That's so funny that someone else thought so too.

I'm proud to say I joined you in the fun Lady_kiya, hubby let me get one today. He's already happily stashed under his soil! By the way, how large is Cynder?

Wow, she's gorgeous. I'm looking into getting a new reptile within the next year or so, are there any good care sheets you recommend? And also, where did you get her?

You can really only get them from pet stores as most are wild caught and filled with parasites, no one really breeds them.

There's not very many good care sheets out there either.

They can get up to 14 inches long and should be quite feisty.

And not all of them look like that, as young juveniles and babies they don't have those striking colors yet.

I just moved my juvie into a 20 long and he enjoyed exploring like crazy.

Here's a few care sheets

Thanks for the info. I was looking online and yea, I couldn't find any breeders. I guess I'll just see if the local rep. show has any if/when I am ready to buy one. Still not sure what I'm using my 30 gal for but this is up there on the list.
