My male has a habit of trying to climb the glass in his tank, often times leading to him falling backwards flat onto his back, then rolling over and trying again. He's been doing this every day, about 50% of his awake time is spent doing so.. Is this common? Maybe he is just adjusting to the new bigger tank?

It doesn't seem to be a territorial thing, more of a "I want to claw my way through/up this glass" thing. The two girls spend most of the time in their warm hide, while he hangs out on the cold side, being 50x more active than them.

a lot of the time they mark their territory by smearing their pores on the glass. google has lots of info, so do the threads. they may stay in the hide out of fear of attack IMO. ive had that problem. you can get a good rack for only 800 bucks, that way they arent together all the time.

Two of my males do the exact same thing.....my adult has been doing it since I got him (I'm 99% sure hes just marking his territory) and my juvenile male just recently started (probably because he is now sexually mature) so its probably just because its breeding season. My females arent very active either, its really weird.

Toon usually spends a decent chunk of her time trying to climb the glass soon after she gets up for the night. I just hold her a couple times and it seems to calm her down but it looks like leos partake in this behavior for various reasons.

Also something to keep in mind is it could be too warm in there for him. Remember that just because your temps are in the "optimum" range of 88-95*F that some leos like it hotter and some preferr it cooler... are you monitoring temps on BOTH hot and cool side? What are they ranging? He could be trying to get out to a cooler place. I also think the females are stressed by his presence if they stay hidden the entire time he is out and about... but then again I am totally against communal living for solitary animals such as leos...

My Cleo likes to do this, she'll do it forever trying to climb up it, I usually take her out for a bit, let her get some exercise then put her back, and she goes right back at it. She'll even climb the actual climbable wall to attempt it from a higher point. It's silly to watch her go at it with 3 legs while the other holds her up until she falls over. For some reason I never thought to record it. :/
