Is it a dud or what?

One of our leos laid an egg the other day and we're not sure whether it's fertile or not. We've had a few infertile ones before, and this one isn't caving like those did, but it's really soft. It looks like a good egg but if you touch it it feels like it's newly laid, and it does have a small indention in the top. We've been debating whether or not to let it sit in the incubator or to throw it out, but it's been in there for a month with no change what so ever. So is it a dud or what? (lol)

Just let it go until there's no question it's bad. I suspect if it still feels like a water balloon it's no good. If you really can't stand it, candle and if it's yellow...no bueno.

I have to disagree. I've had eggs that are literrally balloons. I would barely squeeze them and the shape would literally change, almost pop, but fertile eggs, at least the ones my girls lay, are pretty firm, right away actually.I would not put them I'n a "water balloon" category. Maybe you need to give your girls more calcium if you can't tell the difference. You can definately tell the difference, in my eggs, without a doubt.

We make sure to give all of our females calcium drops pretty regularly. One of our females lost a lot of weight the first time she was preggers so we've been kind of adamant about taking extra care of them since then. .... The one who layed the egg in question actually has the calcium bags (or w/e they're called. lol) under her arms. That's one of the reasons that I was so surprised the egg is doing like it is.....

Incubate until there's no debate! The more an egg is messed with, including opening the container, the more chance it has to go bad if it was good. Leave it be and you will know soon enough.

So you can tell the difference between good eggs and bad eggs by the feel, right? There's a huge difference with mine.

There is usually a HUGE difference in ours as well, which (again) is why we were so surprised. (lol)

I'm just going to leave it in there and see what it does. (lol)

Should it be in a container by itself though in case it does mold or is it okay being with others?
