...or does Dottie look like a Bell? Or a Normal het Bell?

Some info:

I got him as a rescue and I was told he was 5 or 6 years old, from a pet store. I know it is impossible to tell from a picture, but he doesn't look like most "Normals" that I have seen.

He doesn't have albino eyes, so that is why I am leaning to Normal het Bell. I have tried to find pictures for comparison, but have been unsuccessful on here, so I turned to Google and found this. and

Does anyone have any ideas of what to breed him with to "prove" him?

Is it possible that I am going crazy?

hi, first of all he isnt a bell albino, he is a high yellow but you cant know if he is a bell het untill you prove breed him, try breeding him to a bell albino female, if you get a bell albino (and normals) it is het for bell, but if you get only normals he wouldnt be het for bell albino, as the post above u can also breed him to a bell albino het but you will see quicker results if you breed him directly to a bell albino female

At 5 or 6 years old and purchased from a pet store, I highly doubt he's het Bell.

There's no way to tell what he may be het for without breeding, best bet is try a Tremper female if anything.

yup, het for trempers are way more common than het for bells, specially from petstores, but if u really think it is het for bell, all you can do is breed, wait and cross fingers

about the tremper het, tremper albinos are a lot more common than bells, thats why it can be more probable to be het for tremper, specially if coming from a chain petstore

Ok. I found this on google, so now I see where you are coming from.

I was just basing the bell on an uneducated guess and wishful thinking. I thought I did my research before asking, but I didn't cover all options first.

Seeing how relatively new Bells are, Tremper does seem more likely. I will try breeding him with a Tremper female.

I really appreciate the input.

There's no "true" markers to tell if something is het when it comes to Leos.

I can give you a few examples of some known markers, but again if you don't know the history of the animal those markers won't mean anything. You look for markers when you KNOW what it could possibly be het for, to help decide on what to hold back.

Example: A lot of hets for blizzard are more speckled than spotted. However if you bought up every speckled leo out there I can bet you most of them will not be het blizzard. This really only works when you know there's a chance it's het, but then even then it's not perfect.

Like I said, the guy I got him from got him from pet store, so I don't know the parents.

I was planning on getting a female in Daytona, so I may just go ahead and get a Tremper to cross him with just to see what I get.

Again, thanks for the input. I was just curious as to what everyone else thought.
