Is it ok for my gecko to be in his moist hide

most of the time? He just started this about 3 days ago. He used to always be in his warm hide. He just had a shed about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago so wouldn't it be too soon for another? And I took him out awhile ago and he didn't look white. He ate 7 of his 8 mealworms last night so I know that's a good sign.

My main worry is that the moist hide is in the middle of the tank so I'm afraid he won't get enough warmth to digest his food. If he doesn't have a poop tonight I will really be stressed. Is this normal?

Some geckos just have preferences where they like to go. Some like moist hides more than others. I'm sure your gecko uses its other hides, you're just not always there to watch him to see if he ever gets out of his hide.

Geckos Ahhhhhh Yes

I find geckos are a lot like Humans or Martians.
They like a little change.
Body heat, moisture,
couch or recliner, instead of laying
on the floor.
Explore a New World.
Eating? Pooping solids? not 24/7 in the same spot?
Appear to be "panting" or breathing heavily?
( If No's ) Then don't worry so much and instead
handle some and enjoy him/her.
Take care. HJ

Mine will go into her moist hide for a couple of days at a time, then not go near it for 4 or 5 days. She always comes out to her warm spot eventually. I agree that if your gecko is eating and pooping OK then he'll probably be just fine.

thanks guys. If he poops and eats tonight I'll feel a lot better. I'm just worried that he can't get his temp up enough in his moist hide to properly digest his food . .and poop. I'll feel a lot better when I get the UTH set up this weekend. He now just has the heat lamp.

Seems you failed to mention no UTH.
Good chance that is a problem for him.
