Is it safe for a gecko to sleep inside a glass jar? PICS

Ive had my gecko sleeping inside of a big glass jar (I cleaned it many times until it had no scent, before using it). I cut a hole threw the lid and wrapped it around with a lot of paper towel for it to be safe and soft when getting in and out, inside the jar I placed a shamwhao towel which I spray down everyday to keep it moist and humid and also it becomes very soft for him to lay on. My gecko seems to love sleeping there ever since ive made him this unique bed. I as well like it very much since im able to seem him more often. On the cool side he has a cave which he can use but hardly ever does. I've recently began to reason if this is safe or not because I have searched if other owners have done this and cant find one =/

Only dangerous thing I can think of is the hole cut in the lid. If the metal is sharp he could get hurt. Consider putting a bead of silicone around that entrance hole - it's cheap and waterproof and will make sure he doesn't hurt himself.

Also, if the container is round just make sure it's propped so it can't roll around, even if he tries tunneling under it. If it's square ignore that.

Most people use plastic containers because they're cheap, light, and easier to cut into.

My leo loves her humid hide.. She's not using it right now because I just changed out the Eco-earth, so she has to stage her little protest. So the last couple of days she's been sleeping in her cool hide, then at dusk she comes out and lays in her dry warm hide.. Normally she sleeps in her humid hide and is in it all of the time though. :)

I also have a glass jar. I put damp paper towels in there, and mine seems to really love it. I think it holds heat and humidity really well, thus making it a perfect hide for my little friend. It is square, so I don't have to worry about it rolling. But, I am extremely new to gecko-ownership, seeing as I've had mine less than a week. I definitely want to know if the glass jar is safe.

It can work. However, I have two concerns: 1) You could accidently drop it on your gecko while cleaning. 2) Take the thickness of the glass into account when setting the floor surface temperature...the thicker the container the lower the temp.

That sounds like a cool idea, I just used a cleaned out deli meat older with a hole cut in the lid. I put gorilla tape around the entrance which is soft and kind of flap like so it will move with the gecko as he enters and exits.

For a jar I probably wouldn't have a lid at all and just layer gorilla tape until there is only a decent sized hole where the lid would be so the gecko could just climb through that.

I may switch to a jar once my gecko gets larger, I have several jars.
