my gecko pair is housed together. on sept 21st, i noticed them copulating. it's been 2 weeks. i'm a novice at telling if she's gravid or not. i see pink ovals. they look like eggs. but i don't really know. she's squirmy and this was the best picture i could get with one hand. sorry it's so fuzzy. is it good enough? i can try to take more if needed. thanks so much!

yeh cant really tell from the picture.

though if she isnt gravid and she isnt ovulating then it might be a good idea to seperatew them, cuz the male trying to breed all the time can be very stressful for her when she doesnt want to. (which she doesnt if shes not ovulating)
they could end up fighting.

i'll see if i can get better pictures.

they've been together since they were babies. 6 years. no problems so far. except the shedding thing with the male.

they are not originally mine. a friend gave them to me after the male had a bad shed from low humidity. he developed eye caps and an infection in each eye. i did daily soaks, fixed their tank, and eye 'treatments' for a couple weeks. he's 100% better. plus had a perfectly normal shed last week. the female is going into shed now.

they have mealworms in calcium 24/7. i offer crickets once a week. when i first had them, they each got a pinkie. if the female lays eggs, she'll get another.

i've placed a lay box on one side with vermiculite. the female hasn't left it, other than for a quick exercise session yesterday. she isn't sleeping in the day like she usually does, but she doesn't seem restless and hasn't been digging yet.

thanks so much for your reply!

sounds like your doing fine to be honest. If it helps to figure out if she's gravvid or not, when you first go into the breeding section on this site, the first thread at the top is called 'gravvid or ovlating' or something like that and it has helpful pictures in.

update:

so the spots continued to grow for another week, but then stopped and slowly started to get smaller. i'm assuming she absorbed the eggs? the spots are only about a 1/2 inch long now.

what causes them to absorb?

unbred or infertile eggs usually get absorbed from my understanding. But don't quote me as I'm def. NOT an expert.

if they dont feel they want to lay they will absorb. like if the ideal laying conditions arent met, as in too cold. or she is stressed. i think they are the main reasons they are absorbed.
