Is my gecko sick?

Sorry I don't have any pictures, but when my leopard gecko yawned it looked like a small area on the top of his mouth was blackish. He is eating normally, and his tail is fat. The night temperature is 78 F and day is around 80 F. He seems healthy, but I've heard about health problems with geckos mouths. Should I be worried?

without a photo we cant really say if its normal or not however, there is normally a dark patch in the roof of the mouth near the eyes.
